The Main Cause of Climate Change: Human Activities
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, significantly impacting the environment, economies, and communities globally. The scientific consensus is clear: human activities are the primary driver of recent climate change. Here’s a closer look at how our actions contribute to this global phenomenon.
1. Burning of Fossil Fuels
The combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas for energy and transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. When these fuels are burned, they release carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. When trees are cut down and burned or left to rot, the stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere, contributing to increased CO2 levels.
